# Create a project

> Projects are the boundary for work, settings and access in AgentFlow.

export const DocMeta = ({type, applies, owner}) => {
  const LABELS = {
    tutorial: "Tutorial",
    "how-to": "How-to guide",
    explanation: "Explanation",
    reference: "Reference"
  };
  return <div className="e6-meta">
      <span className={type === "how-to" || type === "tutorial" ? "e6-eyebrow" : "e6-eyebrow e6-eyebrow--quiet"}>{LABELS[type] || type}</span>
      {applies ? <span>Applies to: {applies}</span> : null}
      {owner ? <span>Owner: {owner}</span> : null}
    </div>;
};

<DocMeta type="how-to" applies="All deployments" />

A project holds everything for one team or use case: conversations, metrics, workflows and their runs, Agent Tools, project skills, triggers, connectors, response format, action policies and settings. One deployment can host many projects.

## Create a project

Select an existing project, or use the three-step wizard:

1. **Name**: enter the project name.
2. **Context**: add a description and business context. If project files are enabled, add supporting files.
3. **Review**: confirm the details and create the project.

Creating a project doesn't select data or build a semantic layer. Next, [create or reuse a semantic layer](/agentflow/setup/semantic-layers) and [pin it](/agentflow/setup/project-settings).

## How projects keep assets apart

Project-aware storage paths, access records, secrets and identity claims keep one project's assets from being exposed through another project. Sharing a workflow outside its project is explicit and role-based. See [Share a workflow](/agentflow/automate/share).
