# AWS Glue Catalog

> Connect an AWS Glue Data Catalog to your e6data workspace to query data registered in Glue and stored in S3.

## Connect to AWS Glue

1. Open your workspace and go to the **Catalogs** section in the sidebar, then click **Create Catalog**.
2. Give the catalog a name and select **AWS Glue** as the catalog type.
3. Select the **cloud resource** if you created a Serverless workspace.
4. Select the AWS region your Glue metastore is in.
5. When asked whether the Glue metastore and S3 data source are in the **same AWS account** as the e6data workspace:
   * If yes, select **Yes** and continue.
   * If not, select **No** and configure [cross-account access](/query/catalogs/cross-account/aws-glue), providing the requested details of the target catalog.
6. Click **Validate**. This tests connectivity and discovers the Glue databases in the selected region.
7. Choose the Glue databases/schemas you want to query. You can change this selection later.
8. To enable automatic catalog updates, toggle on auto-refresh and set the desired interval; otherwise continue.
9. When the settings are correct, click **Create**.
10. You're redirected to the catalog list. Once creation succeeds, the catalog status changes to **ACTIVE**. If creation fails, hover over the status bar to see the error - see [Catalog errors](/query/errors/catalog).
