# CONCAT

> Concatenates strings in argument order.

Returns NULL if any argument is NULL.

## Syntax

### Scalar

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
concat(value, ...)
```

## Arguments

| Name | Type | Required | Description |

| value | STRING | Yes | One of the strings to join; additional values are allowed. This argument can repeat. |

## Returns

* Type: STRING
* Possible values: The strings joined without a separator.
* NULL behavior: Returns NULL if any argument is NULL.

### Typical behavior

```

### Empty text and Unicode text

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
SELECT concat('', 'cat') AS with_empty_string, concat('é', '猫') AS unicode_text;
```

| cat | é猫 |

## Limitations

* Supply one or more STRING arguments. If any argument is NULL, the result is NULL; NULL arguments are not skipped.
