# SOUNDEX

## Syntax

SOUNDEX( \<expr> )

Returns a string that contains a phonetic representation of the input string/integer.

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
> select soundex('winter')
w536
```
