# GENERATOR

> Produces the specified number of rows with zero visible columns.

NULL row counts are rejected rather than producing a NULL result.

## Syntax

### Table

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
TABLE(GENERATOR(ROWCOUNT => row_count))
```

## Arguments

| ROWCOUNT | nonnegative integer literal | Yes | Number of rows to generate. 0 or greater, representable as BIGINT. Must be a constant argument. |

## Returns

* Type: TABLE
* NULL behavior: NULL row counts are rejected rather than producing a NULL result.
* Empty input: ROWCOUNT => 0 produces zero rows.
* Shape: Exactly ROWCOUNT rows with zero visible columns; SELECT expressions supply the result columns.
* Ordering: The rows have no intrinsic values or order.

## Usage notes

* ROWCOUNT parameter names are case-insensitive.
* GENERATOR itself emits no sequence column; separate projection functions may supply values.

## Examples

### Generate three rows

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
SELECT 1 AS result FROM TABLE(GENERATOR(ROWCOUNT => 3));
```

### Generate no rows

SELECT 1 AS result FROM TABLE(GENERATOR(ROWCOUNT => 0));

## Limitations

* Only named ROWCOUNT is supported. Positional arguments, TIMELIMIT and a zero-argument generator are rejected.
* The result contains rows but no columns. Select expressions alongside GENERATOR to produce values.
