TutorialApplies to: Unified engine deployments

Read capabilities and compute choices before creating resources. This example needs an accessible engine and no external data.

### Discover this engine

Read capabilities and available compute without creating resources.

Replace the placeholders in your client. Keep returned IDs for later requests. Paths below use the native API prefix; adjust it for your deployment.

#### 1. Read capabilities

```http theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
GET /api/v1/capabilities
Host: <ENGINE_HOST>
```

[Endpoint reference](https://docs.e6data.com/transformation/http/reference/capabilities.md).

#### 2. Read compute choices

```http theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
GET /api/v1/execution-options
Host: <ENGINE_HOST>
```

[Endpoint reference](https://docs.e6data.com/transformation/http/reference/execution-options.md).

## 1. Read capabilities

Send the capabilities request from your HTTP client. Inspect the HTTP status and response body. Capability fields describe the services configured on that instance; a successful capabilities request does not mean every optional service is enabled.

## 2. Read execution choices

Send the execution-options request from your HTTP client. Inspect worker scopes, provisioners, profiles, and deployment defaults. Use these values in later workload requests instead of assuming a profile name.

## 3. Copy a real request

Copy a request into your own HTTP client. Replace the host and any placeholders. Verify that the URL is reachable from that client. See [Addresses and access](https://docs.e6data.com/transformation/http/access.md).
