# Catalog client

## Settings

### `connect_timeout`

Sets how long the catalog client waits to establish a connection.

* **Default:** `10 s`
* **Type:** duration

> **Example**
>
> A ten-second timeout allows ten seconds to connect to a catalog endpoint. It does not allow the entire query only ten seconds.

### `request_timeout`

Sets how long the catalog client waits for one HTTP request to finish.

* **Default:** `30 s`
* **Type:** duration

> **Example**
>
> A 30-second timeout bounds one catalog request, such as loading table metadata. Query execution can take longer.
