Returns

• Type: STRING
• NULL behavior: NULL inputs or a missing/invalid path return NULL. JSON null values return SQL NULL.

Usage notes

• Array indices are zero based.
• JSON strings are unquoted, while objects and arrays become compact JSON strings.
• Wildcard projections and bracket keys are supported; single-element wildcard arrays can be unwrapped.
• Field names are matched case-sensitively.
• Deterministic: The same inputs and settings produce the same result.
