# Create cluster

Create and configure a cluster to run queries in a Serverless e6data workspace on Azure.

A **cluster** is the compute that runs your queries. After connecting a catalog, create a cluster to start querying.

## Create a cluster

1. In the Compute Plane, open **Clusters → Create Cluster**.
2. Enter a **Cluster Name** - start with a letter, end with a letter or digit; letters (upper or lower case), numbers, and hyphens, 3–30 characters (for example, `sales-analytics-01`). Case-sensitive.
3. Select a **Version** - the Cluster Runtime (CRT).
4. Select a **Cluster Size** - the compute size.

## Configuration

| Setting              | What it does                                                    |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Autoscaling          | Adjusts size to the workload; set a **Maximum Executors** value |
| Window-based scaling | Smooths scaling over a **Window Duration**                      |
| QPS                  | Targets an expected queries-per-second load                     |
| Caching              | Caches query results for faster repeats                         |
