• NULL behavior: Returns a non-NULL current date.

• The session time zone determines the current calendar date.
• Deterministic: The result can change with session settings or execution time, but stays constant within one query.

Limitations

• Call this function without arguments. An explicit time-zone argument is not supported.
• CURRENT_DATE takes no arguments. To control the date’s time zone, use the session time-zone setting.
