# Hive Metastore

1. Select Hive as the metastore type.
2. Select the cloud resource if a serverless workspace has been created.
3. Provide the Hive connection details:
   1. **Hive IP address/Domain Name**
   2. **Hive Port**
4. When asked whether the Hive metastore and S3 data source exist in the same AWS Account as the e6data workspace:
   1. If yes, select **Yes** and proceed.
   2. If not, select **No** and configure cross-account access (coming soon). Provide the requested details of the target catalog and proceed.
5. If the Hive catalog is hosted on a public IP, acknowledge the security risks involved.
6. Click **Validate** to confirm integration with the Hive metastore.
7. Select the databases/schemas to query. This selection can be changed later.
8. Enable auto-refresh and set the desired time interval for updates.
9. If auto-refresh is not required, proceed to the next step.
10. Click **Create**. Once successfully created, the catalog status will change from PENDING to ACTIVE. If an error occurs, hover over the status bar to view details.
